Final Night
Finance Minister & I are here at our old place - our final night here. Can't decide whether to sleep soon and enjoy the last snooze here, or stay up and savour the sounds that come with being just 4 storeys off the ground. Seriously. It's something I somehow never paid much attention to.
In the last few days, I became just a bit more sensitive to the sound of birds chirping in the morning in the tree just next to my window, grumbling of cars starting up for the day, even footsteps of excitable children or shaky toddlers trying to take big strides. Soon, we won't hear all this anymore. Instead, we'll be tuning in to the sound of howling winds and rhythmic pattern of tennis from the nearby condominum.
There will be plenty to miss. I've lost count of the number of times today that Finance Minister & I have told each other that we are really going to miss. our. old. place. Miss being able to get back home just by climbing a couple of flights of stairs. Miss being able to throw stuff down when someone forgets to take something. ... In fact, I will miss standing at the window - because I can't do that in my new bedroom!
We thought of having a pillow fight tonight. Just for the fun of it, since it's the final night and it's only us girls here. But we're just too tired from moving more boxes today (thanks JL, for coming by to help - a lifesaver! And for bringing EJ along :-)). Think we'll just catch up on reading the newspapers, potter around a bit, then get some good rest :-)
Final night, hopefully a restful one :-)
