PPWM

The last time I recall writing "PPWM" was about 6 years ago, when I was working with another colleague on episodic diaries of SARS for a training programme. One of the diaries was a chronicle of the SARS crisis as it happened at Pasir Panjang Wholesale Market.

Well, we were at PPWM in the morning today. Since Finance Minister, Sweetie & I are all on leave for our new places, we thought it'll be a good time to go get the Chinese New Year stuff too. I really like going to PPWM - when we were there today, I realised again how I enjoy farmers'/wholesale markets in every country I've had the chance to visit. That's the super-auntie side of me and I'm proud of it :-)

PPWM is great for getting many things. We like to stock up on the herbs and ingredients for cooking chicken soup & other lovely brews, dried fruits and nuts, and otherwise pricey 'Western' items like pine nuts and dried cranberries. I convinced Finance Minister to buy some fresh anchovies today too, so that I can try making anchovy pasta soon hehe :-) (A, JS & IA, I'll let you know when I do! :-))

Big fat hairy lie

Highlight of a PPWM visit - excellent chicken rice at just $2.50 per plate! It comes in a generous portion, with free flow soup. The soup changes each time, but always boiled with millions of chicken bones. Once, it was white carrot, carrot and chicken. Today, it was watercress, dried squid and chicken. Very very sweet. The stallholders even provide containers for customers to pack away extra portions of the soup! Yums :-)
