Blind-ed

No. More. Pinning. Up. Curtains. With. Clothes. Pegs. Yay.

I must have grown taller by at least a couple of inches the past few weeks, pinning up and taking down the curtains everyday. We'd been waiting for the blinds to come in, so I continued using curtains from my room in our old place - just to keep the light out in the morning. Trouble is, my new room doesn't have a curtain rail, since the plan was to install blinds. So the only way the curtains could stay up was to use tenacious clothes pegs to keep them on the window frames.

The morning routine up till today had been: 5BX through (i) reaching over and silencing the screaming alarm clock (ii) doing 4-5 jumping jacks to fold up the quilt (iii) a few side stretches to straighten the sheets (iv) walking en pointe across the width of the windows to get the curtains up (v) attempting to artistically drape the curtains so that the view would not be blocked and (vi) hurriedly putting right everything on the table that would have been knocked over by the curtains during the night. The main casualty is Gou-gou, who consistently lands on his face. Like so:

And I wonder why I feel tired at breakfast.

So it's blinds all through, save for the master bedroom which has the luxury of full length curtains. Day blinds for the common areas, black-outs for the bedrooms. We did ours with Advisor, who's from Window Image (Marina Square outlet). I must say, it was quite a struggle choosing white blinds that weren't white yet still white, and choosing curtains that were just the right shade of warm grey with either no patterns, horizontal/vertical lines.

Let's see how it goes. First night. I'm prepared - have stuck cotton felt on the back of the blind to reduce the maddening sound of it hitting the window frame (thanks BC for the tip! ;-)). It's good to finally have a less painful way to keep the glaring light out, this much closer to the sun...
